Wa-Denim are our original made-in-Japan denim jeans having KIMONO fabric fused with Japanese Selvedge denim. We are proud to offer Wa-Denim, bringing the feel of traditional Japanese culture, the KIMONO, into your everyday wear and refining your style.
Wa-Denim jeans are produced in Okayama prefecture, arguably recognized as the leader of selvedge denim today. Our quality jeans are not only made of respected Okayama Selvedge Denim Jeans, but are a unique fusion of Okayama Selvedge Denim Jeans with original KIMONO fabric.
We use Nishijin-Ori, woven in Kyoto, for the KIMONO fabric of Wa-Denim. Nishijin-Ori is one of the most renowned KIMONO fabrics in Japan. Woven in the Nishijin district of Kyoto, it is a traditional Japanese craft with a 1200-year history. Nishijin-Ori uses a broader array of colors than other traditional textiles. Known for its highly-decorative designs, it was used not only as KIMONO fabric but also for accessories for aristocrats in Japan around the 10th century. We created our original KIMONO fabric patterns to retain the glamour of Nishijin-Ori without being overly flashy, so our jeans can be worn with a jacket even in a business setting. The KIMONO fabric used for Wa-Denim is fully original Nishijin-Ori, carefully finished by skilled craftsmen in the Nishijin district of Kyoto.
